Indian Embassy Official Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances in Washington; Investigation Underway
Washington: An official from the Indian Embassy in Washington has been found dead under mysterious circumstances within the mission’s premises.
According to a report from a news agency, local law enforcement and the U.S. Secret Service have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place on Wednesday. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of suicide as part of their inquiry.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Indian Embassy confirmed the tragic event but refrained from providing further specifics.
“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of one of our Embassy staff members on the evening of September 18, 2024. We are coordinating closely with all relevant authorities and the family to ensure the expeditious repatriation of the remains to India,” the statement read.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no additional information regarding the deceased has been shared. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding,” the embassy added.
